Napoleonville Man Arrested for 5th Offense DWI Plus Numerous Other Charges
Assumption Parish Deputies say a man fled when they tried to pull him over for driving under the speed limit on LA 308 near LA 70. Deputies say Marty Jamison led them on a chase that took them through at least three parishes. An Iberville parish deputy put an end to the chase when he shot a tire out in the fleeing vehicle. Deputies found an empty beer bottle on the front seat of Jamison’s vehicle, which was registered to his father, according to reports. Marty Jamison Sr. was booked on charges including driving left of center, improper lane usage, general speeding, nine counts of stop sign violations, 12 counts of no turn signals, two counts of traffic control signals, vehicles must yield at railroad crossings, reckless operation, operating a vehicle while under suspension for prior DWI, aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated criminal damage to property, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle upon a peace officer, open container, no seat belt and DWI Fifth offense. Jamison is no stranger to being booked. Along with 4 other DWI arrests, he was also arrested in 2010 for molestation and indecent behavoir with juveniles and a gambling charge in 2007.

Louisiana State Police Arrest Baker Man for 5th Offense DWI
Louisiana State Police were called to the scene of a one-vehicle crash on Plank Rd. near Charlton Rd. in Baker around 9:00 Saturday night. Troopers say the driver of the vehicle, Jessie Chapman, 44, 4213 Heath Dr., Baker told them he had run off the road attempting to avoid another vehicle which was stopped in the roadway. According to troopers Chapman appeared intoxicated and performed poorly on a standard field sobriety test. He was taken to the Zachary Police Department for a breathalyzer test, which was refused. He was arrested and charged with 5th offense DWI, careless operation, failure to maintain control, refusal to submit to chemical test and operating a vehicle while under suspension for prior offenses. Chapman was transported to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and is currently awaiting bond.

BRPD Officers Book Man for 3rd Offense DWI and Hit & Run
Baton Rouge Police were called to the scene of a Hit & Run in the 5400 block of Prescott Rd shortly after 9:30pm Thursday night. According to reports, Donavon Turner, 27, of 5449 Prescott Rd #266 in Baton Rouge, was driving a red Toyota westbound on Prescott when he struck an eastbound Chevrolet Pickup. After the crash, Turner fled on foot to his nearby apartment where he was located by investigating officers a short time later. Police say Turner smelled strongly of alcohol when they contacted him. He was taken into custody for the hit & run and transported to the Plank Rd 1st District Police Station. Once at the precinct Turner was given a standard field sobriety test and breathalyzer. He performed poorly on the SFST and blew a .316% on the breathalyzer, which is nearly 4 times the legal limit. Turner was booked into the EBR Parish Prison on the following charges: 3rd Offense DWI Hit and Run Driving Under Suspension/Revocation He is currently being held on $25,500 bond.

Baton Rouge Police Arrest 3rd Offense DWI Suspect Following Pursuit
Baton Rouge Police say they booked a 22-year-old man with his 3rd offense DWI on Monday afternoon. According to an affidavit, an officer clocked a vehicle travelling more than 20mph over the posted speed limit yesterday. Officers say the man was also laying down in the front seat of his vehicle and not wearing a seat belt. The driver failed to yield to police when the officer attempted to stop his vehicle. A high-speed chase ensued in which the vehicle nearly caused an accident by pulling across 2 lanes of oncoming traffic. Police finally got the vehicle stopped and took the driver, Clarity Robinson, 1918 Arizona St, Baton Rouge, into custody. Officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from Robinson, who admitted that he had consumed alcohol earlier in the morning. He also told police that he took 3 prescribed Lortab pills. Robinson’s license was found to be suspended from a previous DWI in 2011. Brett Gerald Sentenced to 70 Years in Fatal Crash
Brett Gerald, the man responsible for the deaths of 7 people due to an alcohol related crash, was sentenced today to 70 years in prison for his actions. He faced anywhere from 5 years to 210 years. Judge William Carmichael sentenced Gerald to 10 years on each of the 7 counts to be served consecutively and ruled that 5 years of each sentence must be served without benefit of parole. That means he will serve a minimum of 35 years. Gerald must also pay a $2,000 fine for each of the seven counts and enter a substance abuse program. Relatives of those killed in crash spoke to Gerald in court prior to the sentencing. They stated that they forgave him for his actions. Gerald got to speak as well and asked for forgiveness from the family. Gerald was driving a Dodge pickup on LA 67 in the southbound lane when he struck a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis head on in May of 2012. The driver and four additional occupants of the Grand Marquis were killed instantly. Two additional occupants of the Grand Marquis were transported to local hospital with critical injuries and later died. Gerald sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. State Police said Gerald’s blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit. He was booked with DWI (2nd Offense), vehicular homicide (7 counts), reckless operation of a motor vehicle and driving left of center. Gerald plead guilty to the charges in December of last year.

Man Driving With Unrestrained Child Booked for 5th Offense DWI
The Baton Rouge Police Department has arrested Kenny Reed, 38, 1745 N. 37th, and charged him with his 5th offense DWI. Police say that Reed was driving recklessly in the vicinity of N. 45th and Gus Young Ave, then made an improper turn. When officers stopped his vehicle they noticed an unrestrained child in the backseat of the vehicle and 3 open containers of alcohol in the car. Reed refused to submit to a breathalyzer test and was taken into custody. Police learned that he had an outstanding felony warrant for possession of cocaine. They also learned that Reed did not have a valid license due to several previous DWI arrests. According to this article, Reed was booked in November of 2012 for his 6th offense DWI which should make this his 7th offense. St. Francisville Man Booked with 4th Offense DWI in Baton Rouge
The Louisiana State Police arrested a 31-year-old St. Francisville man early Wednesday morning for his 4th offense DWI. According to reports, a Trooper observed a vehicle driven by Kevin Nawadny cross the center line twice while travelling on Wax Rd around 1:45am. After stopping the vehicle the Trooper administered several standard field sobriety tests to Nawandy, all of which he failed. Nawandy was transported to the EBRSO Central Substation and given a chemical test for intoxication. The results of the chemical test showed his BAC to be .126g% Through an investigation the Trooper discovered that Nawandy had been arrested on 3 previous occasions for DWI in 2008, 2010 and 2012. He was also driving with a suspended license. Nawandy was booked and transported to EBR Parish Prison where he later bonded out.

West Baton Rouge Man Blows .308; Booked with 3rd Offense DWI
A West Baton Rouge man has been arrested for his 3rd offense DWI after his blood alcohol content revealed he was 3x the legal limit. Police say that Randy Brown, 26, 1303 Ave C, Port Allen crashed into a mailbox early Monday morning. After arriving on the scene officers conducted an interview with Brown and noticed that he smelled of alcohol. Brown performed poorly on a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest. A breath test showed his blood alcohol level to be at .308 percent. Brown has two prior DWI arrests from 2004 and 2012. He was booked into the EBR Parish Prison for 3rd offense DWI, driving under suspension, insurance required, and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

21-Year-Old Baton Rouge Man Arrested for 2nd Offense DWI
Baton Rouge Police are reporting the arrest of Jason McFerrin, 21, 2005 E. Parlange Dr, Gonzales early Thursday morning. According to an incident report, McFerrin was clocked on police radar driving 15mph the posted speed limit in the 500 block of Lee Dr around 2:00 AM. An officer stopped McFerrin and performed a standard field sobriety test on him after noticing signs of impairment. McFerrin failed the test and submitted to a breathalyzer test. The results showed that his blood alcohol content was .141% and well over the limit. A check of McFerrin’s driving record showed that his license was under suspension and that he was previously booked in 2012 for a DWI in Gonzales. He was booked with speeding, reckless operation, driving under suspension and 2nd offense DWI. McFerrin is currently in the EBR Parish Prison awaiting bond.
